IPO Best Research Award 2018-19

Two students of Environmental Science, Policy and Management Program (ESPM) won the first prize of the IPO Best Research Award 2018/19 which recognizes the outstanding achievements of research students and fosters the overall quality of research education in the University.

IPO Supports Elder Academy Scheme 2019

HKUST participated in the Elder Academy Scheme jointly launched by the Labour and Welfare Bureau (LWB) and the Elderly Commission (EC) in Spring 2018-19. Division of Environment and Sustainability (ENVR) supported the scheme by offering the course SUST1000 - Introduction to Sustainability and received positive feedback from the senior students, Ms. Windy LEE and Mr. Julius CHOI.

MPP students were Awarded Third Runner-up in the Inter-University Public Policy Case Competition 2019

Lanqing JIANG, Ruipeng QI, Xinying TAN, Phoebe CHAN and Ruibin DENG, a team of five Year 1 students of Master of Public Policy was awarded Third Runner-up in the Inter-University Public Policy Case Competition 2019. The competition required participants to analyze and resolve real-life public policy problems through case study of Territory-Wide System Assessment in schools, Lantau Tomorrow Vision and Uber.

Implementing the Strategy of Innovation-driven Development to Build an Innovative Country

Prof. Wei HUANG, Vice Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China gave an IPP Distinguished Lecture on “Implementing the Strategy of Innovation-driven Development to Build an Innovative Country” on 16 April 2019. As one of the main pioneers in steel deck pavement of long-span bridges, Prof. HUANG organized and led design and engineering implementation of steel deck pavement of nearly 30 long-span bridges. He shared some of his experience and insights on the projects that he worked on and how to construct China into an innovation-driven leading country.
