Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Cooperation between The Division of Biomedical Engineering (BME) and Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (SYSUCC)

On June 5, 2015, a nine-member delegation led by Prof. I-ming Hsing, Head of The Division of Biomedical Engineering (BME) visited Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (SYSUCC). Experts from both sides conducted a cordial conversation on the potential of cooperation and exchange. Prof. Meng-feng Li, Vice President of SYSUCC, introduced the development plan of the medical research of SYSUCC and expressed his eager on the collaboration of HKUST and SYSUCC during the meeting. He expected the meeting could serve as a platform to explore the common interests and goals of both sides in order to initiate more collaborative research beneficial to the health development of the Country. Prof. Rui-hua Xu, President of SYSUCC, stated his support on the cooperation between the two sides. Prof. I-ming Hsing, Head of BME, thanked the hospitality of SYSUCC and was looking forward to the cooperation with the Center.

Prof. I-ming Hsing and Prof. Rui-hua XU signed a memorandum of cooperation aiming at establishing a long-term partnership on clinical and medical research cooperation, exchange of students and researchers, co-organization of academic conferences and other activities.

After the signing ceremony, the delegation of BME briefly introduced their research interest which covered application of chemical material in Medical Imaging and Image-guided Therapy, transduction of cell signaling, diagnosis and monitoring of non-invasive cancer and molecular diagnosis of cancer, etc. The experts had a productive and constructive discussion in developing collaborative research. At the meeting, representatives exchanged souvenirs to symbolize the beginning of cooperation between HKUST and SYSUCC.
